“Oregon perennially ranks as one of the most food insecure states in the U.S. Over 14
percent (12,480) of Benton County residents live in households that meet the definition of
being food insecure, representing 21.7 percent of Benton County’s children.” (Benton County
Health Improvement Plan)

Two overarching goals were identified in the plan in addressing Food Security in Benton
County:
• Improve access to fresh and healthy food; and
• Improve utilization of food assistance program

Our October program will feature representatives of four local organizations that have
developed innovative programs to ensure that our residents have access to enough good food
for active, healthy lives. All of our panelists are members of the Benton County Food Security
Workgroup.

Come and hear about their amazing programs and how they are impacting the lives of Benton
County residents.
