The League of Women Voters is launching an Observer Corps!
Throughout its history, the League of Women Voters has been a strong champion of open and transparent government. Observer Corps programs are one way we help protect access and transparency laws and uphold the public’s right to know.
Observer Corps members attend government meetings to learn how decisions are made and to ensure those meetings are conducted openly and in accordance with transparency requirements—an essential pillar of our democracy. Observers also monitor actions related to national, state, or local League positions and report back to the League when follow-up or action may be needed.
The Corvallis Observer Corps will begin soon! If you are interested in participating, please contact Kimberley Coles who will host interest and training meetings and coordinate a schedule for meeting observations.
Participants will be asked to commit to observing a Corvallis government committee once per month, take notes, and complete a brief Observer Feedback Form. Observers will also have opportunities to learn from one another through quarterly all-observer gatherings.
