Our League has been busy this fall! In addition to developing programs that were held in September (“What’s Up with Coffin Butte Landfill”) and October (City Livability Services Levy), we submitted testimony to local officials about two important land use issues. Please go to the testimony page of our website to see what we had to say about the proposed Creekside Center development at 53rd and Philomath (10-17-23 and on 10-31-23), as well as our recommendations to the City and County regarding the Urban Fringe Management Agreement that has not been updated since 1990. In both cases, these items were initiated by volunteers who serve on local League committees and brought to our board for consideration and approval. Education and advocacy are alive and well in the LWV of Corvallis!
Next Monday, Nov. 13, we will be co-sponsoring an education program on Public Banking that is being organized by the League of Women Voters of Linn County. This program starts at 6:30 pm and will be available via Zoom. Please find details on our website here.
Later this month, we turn to young leaders who are devoting their time and energy toward shaping a better future through their involvement in government. They have much to teach us about what motivates them, what matters to them, and what they are doing to make a difference. Please find details on our website here, and plan to join us – either in person at the library or online via
Zoom – to hear what they have to say. We hope to see you there.
On behalf of the Coordinating Committee,
