    NAACP Town Halls in Albany & Corvallis

    Albany Riverfront Community Center 489 NW Water Ave., Albany, OR

    The NAACP is presenting two town halls exploring the impacts of federal actions on Oregonians. This event is co-sponsored by Indivisible, Rural Organizing Project, and the LWV of Corvallis. Concurrent sessions will address issues including health care, housing, voting integrity, support of veterans and more.

    • Fay Stetz-Waters, the Civil Rights & Social Justice Director for the Oregon Department of Justice, will speak on ethics and civil rights.
    • Bruce Goldberg, M.D., professor at the Oregon Health & Science University-Portland State University School of Public Health and chairperson of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board will speak about healthcare.

    Hear from candidates for Benton County Commissioner, Position 1: Pat Malone and John Wilson. To learn more ahead of the forum, you can watch recordings of their responses to key topics:

    Learn about four ballot measures related to proposed changes to the Corvallis City Charter.

    Join the League of Women Voters for the next Tap Talk!

    The evening kicks off with a trivia game and prize drawing at 5:30 pm, followed by the presentation at 6:00 pm, with time for audience questions.

    This month’s talk, “What’s Happening Downtown? Inside Corvallis’ Revitalization Efforts,” features Deann Garcia, President of the Downtown Corvallis Organization. Garcia will share insights into the organization’s work to support the economic and cultural vitality of downtown Corvallis, including projects like The Plaza and community events such as Friday Lights and the upcoming Corkvallis! wine walk on May 16. She will also discuss her role on the Downtown Vitality Strategy Task Force.

    Come early or stay after to grab a drink or a bite and connect with others in the community. All are welcome!

    Secretary of State Tobias Read, Senator Gelser Blouin, and Representative Finger McDonald are hosting an informational evening to discuss voting and this year's elections. This is not a League sponsored event but we wanted to spread the word about the important event which will provide information about voting and this year's elections.

    LWVOR Council Meeting: May 16, 2026

    The League of Women Voters of Oregon is hosting the 2026 Council on Saturday, May 16. This one-day hybrid event offers both in-person and virtual opportunities to connect with League members from across the state, help shape League priorities, and hear from insightful speakers.

    An optional, informal reception and networking event will be held on Friday, May 15 at 5:00 PM for all registered participants.

    The official business session—including voting—will take place on Saturday, May 16 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Registration includes access to both days.

    The League of Women Voters of Corvallis may send up to nine delegates to this Council. If you are interested in representing LWV Corvallis, please complete the application form by Saturday, April 12. Anyone who would like to register as an Observer can register here.
