    Immigration: A National Issue Through a Local Lens: Oct. 30, 2025

    The public is invited to a special program that marks the second program in the Restoring Democracy series that is being sponsored in 2025-26 by the League of Women Voters of Corvallis. “Immigration: A National Issue through a Local Lens”

    The program will begin with a brief overview of the League’s national position on immigration, followed by presentations that address what it means to live in a sanctuary state and city, how local law enforcement interfaces with ICE, and support services that are available for local immigrants. Featured presenters are:

    • Yema Measho, local Immigration Attorney;
    • Jason Harvey, Corvallis Chief of Police; and
    • Cassady Gilroy, Executive Director of the Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center.

     

    Audience members will then have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists. The program will also include opportunities for networking and for attendees to participate in small group discussions in response to what they’ve heard. Light refreshments will be served.

    Increasing Corvallis' Capacity to Accommodate Expected Growth

    League members, along with their friends, family, and the general public are invited to attend a program organized by the League of Women Voters’ Community Planning Committee. 

    This program will begin with an opportunity to view maps and designs for current and planned buildings in Corvallis neighborhoods, followed by Jason Yaich, Planning Division Manager, Corvallis Community Development Department, answering questions such as:

    • What building is occurring or has been approved?
    • What demographics and geographic areas are being impacted?
    • Is the city meeting the state's housing goals?
    • What land is still available?
    • What are the challenges for the city and builders?
    • What options do I have for my property?

     

    The program will also include an opportunity for attendees to participate in small group discussions to respond to what they’ve heard and make suggestions for resolving some of the future issues.

    Don’t miss this important opportunity to learn and to gather ideas for getting involved in the future of our city.
