In the position statement for the Housing Committee of the LWV of Corvallis, we state that we address a range of housing needs. Most recently, members of the committee have been collaborating with other organizations and service providers to find solutions that will provide shelter for our unhoused population.

While we will continue to work on this issue, we are also exploring other topics, such as senior housing, housing for people with disabilities, and workforce or middle-income housing.  We need each of these to have a city that accommodates a diverse population.

Questions we are asking:

  • Should we be building up instead of out?
  • What are the implications for building single-family homes?
  • What is the best way to protect land within the Urban Growth Boundary? How do we provide needed infrastructure?
  • Can we build in a way that limits the need for cars?

If these topics interest you, please join our committee; we need your help and ideas. The committee meets once a month on Thursday, 2:00-3:30 PM via Zoom.
