Corvallis and Benton County planners are anticipating substantial increases in our population. At the same time, climate scientists are forecasting increased precipitation and flooding in the winters and increased heat and droughts in the summers. Both growth and disasters will place more stress on our streams, rivers, drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, and ground water.

The League’s program will provide a look at four projects that are under way to address our water quality and availability:

  • Laurel Byer (Benton County Public Works) will talk about daylighting a portion of Dunawi Creek, associated with the 53rd Street Railroad Overpass.
  • David Eckert (Corvallis Sustainability Coalition Water Action Team) will speak about the Dunawi Creek Headwaters Regeneration Project and the 3 Waters Project.
  • Ted Hart (City of Corvallis Public Works) will give an overview of the Mill Race Riparian Restoration Project.
  • Michael Tasman (City of Corvallis Public Works) will present the Marys River Tapwater Pipes Crossing Project.

Water is basic to our well-being and our survival. Please join us for this opportunity to find out what’s happening locally with this life-giving resource that we tend to take for granted.

Co-sponsored by the LWV of Corvallis, Corvallis-Benton County Public Library
