Overview of League programs for 2017-18. Come and learn what exciting programs the League is working on and how you can become involved.
At 7:30 pm, we’ll shift our attention to our featured program on First Amendment Rights, with a focus on hate speech and hate crimes. Our presenter, Lauren Regan, is the founder and Executive Director of the Civil Liberties Defense Center in Eugene, where she also serves as CLDC’s staff attorney. CLDC defends and upholds civil liberties through education, outreach, litigation, legal support, and assistance. Their staff educates people about their rights and why their rights are important, defends front line activists, and exposes and confronts the erosion of our civil liberties and the Bill of Rights.
Following Lauren’s presentation, there will be plenty of time for audience questions.
Mark your calendar and plan to join us for this dynamic and informative presentation. Invite your friends and colleagues to come with you – and introduce them to the League and to a timely exploration of hate speech and hate crimes.
This event is co-sponsored by the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library
