Like everything else this spring, the League’s voter outreach will be different. Gone are the candidate forums at the Library and also paper copies of the Voters’ Guide. We normally distribute about 1,000 guides around the County, but this year we encourage you to find the same information online. At the League of Women Voters of Oregon website there are links to the Voters’Guide in English, Spanish, and Audio as well as a large print version. You can page through the electronic version just like the paper copy. At VOTE411 you can find a wealth of information on the candidates. This is a national database where you can enter your address to find candidates’ biographical info, websites and Facebook pages, answers to the League’s questions, and sometimes a video, all specific to your ballot. Statewide the response rate is 55% for all races and 65% for opposed races. None of our local races have more than one candidate and the response rate here is also 55%. There may be opportunities for virtual forums with some candidates for statewide offices, so keep an eye out if you are interested. Those notifications would come by email and Facebook.
