How Misinformation Distorts Elections: The Role of Local Journalism

The public is invited to a special program titled “How Misinformation Distorts Elections: The Role of Local Journalism.” This is the first of a 3-part pre-midterm election series titled “Truth, Trust, and Democracy: Information, Elections, and Voter Confidence”, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Corvallis.
Panelists will include:
- Penny Rosenberg, Editor of the Corvallis Gazette-Times
- Steve Schultz, Editor and Publisher of The Corvallis Advocate
- Dan Crall Station Manager of KORC
- Jim Rondeau Station Manager of KLCC
Following an initial series of questions posed by the League, audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists. The program will also include opportunities for networking and for attendees to participate in small group discussions in response to what they’ve heard. Light refreshments will be served.
The goal of the “Truth, Trust, and Democracy” series is to increase voter confidence, clarity, and informed participation. The other two programs in the series will be on September 16 and October 21.
