Child care concerns have changed dramatically since our 1988 – Child Care In Oregon publication. Our advocacy position has not changed.  \nDownload the new study Caring for Our Children here.  \nLeague of Women Voters of Oregon is seeking consensus from local leagues across the state in order to develop an updated position.  Note: Consensus means a general agreement by members\, not a strict voting process. \nRead the study and mark your calendar to make your opinion count by attending one of the meetings we have planned to discuss the consensus questions: \n\nTuesday\, November 12th at 7:00 PM at the home of Connie Bozarth (conboz@comcast.net) or\nTuesday\, November 19th at 10:00 AM at the home of Ann Schauber (annschauber@gmail.com). \n\nEXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF THE NEW STUDY \nAn effective childcare system benefits the entire economy. Governor Kate Brown directed state agencies to find ways to more aggressively to implement the state’s climate change goals. This directive resulted in legislation on Climate Friendly and Equitable Communities and Middle Housing. Governor Tina Kotek has placed strong emphasis on addressing Oregonians’ housing needs. This initiative has and is continuing to push legislation to change land use laws to make it easier to build homes. \nThese laws impact all the communities in Linn and Benton Counties. They will result in land use changes within communities themselves and in their urban growth boundaries still within county jurisdiction.
